Indication of
New Physics from the Belle Experiment |
| Why does the universe have only matter, and not antimatter? The Belle collaboration, an international research team working at the KEKB accelerator, is investigating the origin of the tiny difference that is known to exist between particles and antiparticles,called "CP violation". Following the discovery of a CP violation in the decay of B-mesons in 2001, the Belle experiment found evidence in the summer of 2003 for a new phenomenon that cannot be explained by the Standard Model of elementary particles. The Nagoya University team, the largest university group in the collaboration,is playing a central role in the Belle Experiment. |
